Community Site & Coach Liaison

Position Profile:

 The Community Coach & Site Liaison, a part-time position, is responsible for identifying and recruiting Girls on the Run sites from Chatham, Bryan, Effingham and Liberty Counties.  Responsible for recruiting and training volunteer coaches from school systems and community partners in the service region. The goal is to continuously increase the number of sites and coaches in the designated territory, in addition to expanding the number of girls served.  Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

 

Site Management:

Coordinate all new and existing sites and increase the number and geographical diversity according to budget expectations for sustainability and strategic growth.

Manage all aspects of training of site liaison at schools and any other sites (churches, community centers, Boys & Girls Clubs, etc.)

Develop positive relationship with administration, staff, and site liaisons at schools and other site locations.

 

Coach Recruiting, Training and Support:

Coordinate recruitment and placement of all new and existing coaches, increasing the number of volunteers, with emphasis on volunteers not employed by school sites

Participate in community activities to expand network of potential host sites and coaches.

Develop relationships with community leaders and youth-serving organizations in service region for collaborative opportunities, including Home Schooling community

Manage all aspects of Coach Training (pre-season and mid-season) including CPR & First Aid.

Support coaches through face to face contact, phone and email communication and online Coaches’ Corner.

Make site visits (Addy visits) to ensure program quality & consistency and to provide support to coaches. New sites should be visited twice per season and returning sites once per season.

 

GOTR Fall and Spring 5K Events:

Communicate with coaches and GOTR girls regarding race day logistics as designated by Executive Director and Program & Administrative Manager and lead volunteers, and help to coordinate the areas of the 5K related directly to the girls and programs, including the Kids Zone.

 

Position Specifics:

This position reports directly to the Executive Director with frequent collaboration with Program & Administrative Manager and lead volunteers. A mix of day-time, evening, and weekend hours is flexible and increases as required by GOTR program schedule. The work is busiest during coach recruitment and training and includes the end-of-season 5K week (typically late April and late November).

Additional duties include support for special events and projects as needed.  Position requires ability to work independently and as part of a team in a highly-collaborative and fast-paced environment.

·         BS or BA preferred

·         Must display a personal passion for mission of GOTR

·         Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team

·         Strong written and oral communication skills with range of audiences

·         Remain composed under stress and take personal responsibility for delivering on personal and organizational commitments

·         Computer competence, including but not limited to: Google Docs, Drop Box, Excel and willingness to learn Raceplanner

·         Understands and embraces diversity and inclusiveness in thought, word and actions

·         Understands and embraces a healthy lifestyle in thought, word and actions

 

The Organization:

Girls on the Run Coastal Georgia and Lowcountry serves Chatham, Bryan, Effingham, Liberty, Beaufort and Jasper Counties.   Our physical activity-based positive youth development program is designed to develop and enhance girls’ social, psychological, and physical competencies to successfully navigate life experience. The curriculum creatively incorporates training for a 5K with lessons that encourage 3rd – 8th grade girls to develop essential life skills.

Position allows for a highly-flexible schedule and ability to work remotely.  Compensation paid for mileage for travel outside of Chatham County.
