Development Officer: Annual Giving



 Creates and implements a plan to identify, cultivate and solicit the acquisition of new donors and retention and upgrade of existing donors. Designs and executes a carefully planned, well-organized, well- coordinated program of online communications, solicitations and donor stewardship; responsibilities include achieving program dollar and prospect solicitation goals, on budget and on time.  Works with Prospect Research to optimally segment donor and prospect populations especially at the interface of Direct Response and Online Giving to optimize giving and giving potential.  Works with IT/systems and research staff to ensure accuracy of information and coordination/ timeliness of program execution; prepares and presents regular reports on progress toward achievement of activity and fundraising goals.  Partners with Communication and Marketing staff to develop high-quality, focused communications that accurately and compellingly present the strategic direction, priorities, and goals of the institution; works with other development officers to ensure necessary coordination between annual fund and major gift/campaign prospect approaches. Assist with departmental donor cultivation events, planned giving seminars, and income generating events; participates in the strategic planning process for the department to maximize the opportunities for charitable giving.  Assists with the creation of a Direct Mail marketing campaign and timelines; performs related tasks as required.



Bachelor’s degree required and three to four years of relevant fundraising experience, management/administrative and project management experience; or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are required.  Excellent writing, communication and customer relations skills required; ability to solicit contributions essential.  Must possess a broad base of general knowledge and skills in fundraising; related experience in annual giving programs desired; including volunteer recruitment and management.  Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge. Background and/or credit check may be required.
