POSITION SUMMARY:
 
Gives direction and leadership to the GOTRCGA organization; provides coordination and oversight of the operations of the Girls on the Run programs throughout Chatham, Effingham, Bryan and Liberty Counties.  Provides marketing and program-development support on an as needed basis.  Works jointly with board, staff, committees and other volunteers to implement the strategic goals and objectives of the organization. Provides leadership and direction to ensure sites implement the GOTR curricula with high quality and effectiveness.  Communicates with the Executive Committee of the GOTRCGA Board and assures that the committee is well informed on issues and problems that may require further attention.  Serves as a liaison between GOTRCGA and Girls on the Run International.  Serves on the Board for GOTRCGA.
 
Please note our council is currently in the process of a merger with the Girls on Run of the Low Country serving Jasper and Beaufort County, South Carolina.  The position will include providing direction and leadership for the administration of the schools within those counties.  Our current staff includes a full time Executive Director, who is retiring at the end of this year, and two part-time employees.  The council we are merging with also has one part-time employee.  
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
 
Normal working conditions where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise and the like.  Occasionally lifts average 35-pound boxes of supplies, materials, etc. to waist high level.  Ability to drive plus the availability of a vehicle for use getting to and from meetings and other events.  Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain necessary auto insurance for the above purposes.   Must be able to work a varied schedule when required, including evenings, early mornings and weekends to cover the work.  This is a full-time position, working an average of 40 hours per week with peak hours during critical program periods.  
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:     
 
• Provides direction and leadership to the GOTRCGA organization, providing coordination and oversight of the operations of the Girls on the Run programs.

• Assists in the hiring administrative staff, as needed.  Trains and supervises staff.  Maintains a climate that attracts, retains and motivates a diverse staff of quality people who reflect the GOTR core values.

• Communicates effectively and in a timely manner with the Executive Committee of the GOTRCGA Board and with the Board Chair and assures that members are well informed on issues and problems that may require further attention.

• Communicates effectively with participants and parents, responds promptly to questions and concerns and provides clear information about the program to all who need/request information.

• Attends meetings of the GOTRCGA Board and committee meetings as needed, on a regular basis.  Assists on preparing monthly financial report, and provides other necessary materials/information for meetings.

 
• Works with staff, the GOTRCGA Board and Committee Chairs to prepare and gain approval of annual budget.  Monitors GOTRCGA financial activity so that GOTRCGA operates within budget guidelines.

• Serves as the primary contact for local media inquiries to market program needs and gain additional community support and acts as an ambassador to represent the GOTR mission and its programs with the general public.  Serves as primary contact for out-of-region program inquiries and resource to other Girls on the Run Council Directors.

• Serves as liaison between GOTRCGA and all program and event sponsors, maintaining strong relationships and implementing all contract agreements.  Actively pursues new sponsor relationships and cultivates existing partnerships.

• Coordinates program development/fundraising as needed in conjunction with the GOTRCGA Development Committee including the coordination of special event planning such as the GOTRCGA 5K race series and other local fundraising efforts.  Prepares grant applications and reports in a timely manner.

• Communicates with Girls on the Run International for consultation, support and information when necessary and coordinates information given and received with other designated individuals (e.g., Board Chair, Executive Committee, etc).  Responsible for compliance with the GOTRI membership contract.

• Collaborates with the Board Chair to oversee implementation of the GOTRCGA strategic plan.

• Oversees editing and updates of website and other social media as needed.

• Provides assistance in the program evaluation process and coordinates with staff  to accomplish quality program implementation at each site.

• Maintains the confidentiality of all GOTRCGA related information.

• Other duties as assigned by the Council Board Chair.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
 
• Bachelor’s degree required as well as 3 to 5 years of professional work experience.    

• Previous experience working with/for a Board desirable.

• Strong demonstrated organizational abilities and the ability to keep track and oversee multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, communicate with other project/task participants with limited oversight and support.  

• Above average oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey, receive, interpret and document information for reports, correspondence, instructions, etc.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to form trusting and productive working relationships across a wide range of customers, stakeholders and partners.

• High energy, enthusiasm and an optimistic orientation.

• Knowledge and/or experience with programs for elementary-age children and expertise in developmentally appropriate activities for children highly desirable.

• Requires experience with personal computers and proficiency using word processing, electronic mail and data collection instruments.

• Ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, integrity and knowledge of organizational policies and practices and to convey such information to others (e.g. volunteers, interns, parents, students, etc.).

• Ability to work a highly flexible schedule including early mornings and late afternoons with the potential for limited evening and weekend commitments.

• Ability to observe program implementation activities and provide feedback including physical demonstration of fitness activities, games, etc.
